Shikinox is a React Native app development company led by its founder, who has taken apps from idea to the Play Store and App Store. We build iOS and Android apps from one TypeScript codebase, together with the backend, the release pipeline and the monitoring that keep an app working long after launch day.
Who this is for
Founders and product leaders in North America who need an app that ships, not a prototype that stalls. The projects we take on usually start in one of three places:
- A company with a web product that needs a mobile app for customers, dealers or field staff.
- A startup launching its first app and wanting one team to cover design handoff, build, backend and store launch.
- A team with an existing React Native app that crashes, lags on older phones or has not had a clean release in months.
If you are also planning a web platform, read about our SaaS product engineering. Most of the mobile apps we build share a backend with a web product.
Problems we solve
Two codebases, two teams, two backlogs. Native iOS and Android apps double the cost of every feature and every bug. React Native gives you one codebase, one team and one release train, with native modules only where a feature truly needs them.
Apps that fail without signal. Field staff, drivers and dealers work in basements, warehouses and rural areas. An app that needs a connection for every tap gets abandoned within a week. We design offline-first: a local database on the device, a queue for writes, and conflict rules decided up front rather than discovered in production.
Payments and login that lose users. Every extra step at checkout or sign-in costs you people. We integrate in-app payments with Stripe and add social login so a new user is inside the app in seconds.
Push notifications nobody opens. Notifications earn their place when they are timely and specific. We wire push notifications properly on both platforms, handle device tokens and permission prompts with care, and deep link every notification to the right screen.
Store rejections and release chaos. Review guidelines, signing certificates, provisioning profiles, privacy labels and data safety forms trip up teams on every release. We own submission and release management so launches become routine.
Slow on the phones your users actually have. Testing on a flagship phone hides problems. We profile on low-end Android devices, keep long lists virtualised, size images correctly and keep re-renders under control.
Flying blind after launch. Without crash reporting and analytics you learn about problems from one-star reviews. We ship with Sentry, analytics events on the flows that matter and release health tracking from the first build.
How we approach it
We follow the same four steps on every engagement.
Discover. A free call to understand your users, the devices they carry and the conditions they work in. You get a written scope within 48 hours that says what ships in the first release and what waits.
Design. We agree the architecture, the data model and the offline strategy before heavy building starts. For a mobile app that means deciding which data lives on the device, how sync resolves conflicts, where authentication tokens are stored and what the release pipeline looks like. A clickable plan shows the screens and flows so there are no surprises later.
Build. Two-week sprints with a demo every week on a real device, not a simulator. Test builds reach your phone through each store's test track, so you use the app as it grows. Automated tests cover the business logic and the flows that matter.
Scale. We handle store submission, watch the first releases closely and hand over documentation, signing assets and the release process. If you need ongoing work, a dedicated team can take it from there.
Release management
Releases are where most mobile projects lose momentum. We treat the release pipeline as part of the product: reproducible builds, a staged rollout on the Play Store, phased release on the App Store, and a rollback plan written down before the first submission.
What we build with
React Native with TypeScript is our default because it lets one team ship both platforms with native performance for the large majority of apps. The ecosystem is mature: Expo and its build service handle native configuration, builds and over-the-air updates, so we spend our time on your product rather than on Xcode and Gradle settings.
For offline-first apps we keep a local on-device store with a sync layer the backend understands, so writes queue on the device and replay cleanly when the connection returns. Backends are Node.js with PostgreSQL, the same stack we use for SaaS platforms, which means your app and your web product share one API and one set of business rules.
Payments run through Stripe. Push notifications go through each platform's own push service. Crashes and performance go to Sentry, and product analytics go to the tool your team already uses. Builds and releases run through GitHub Actions so every build is reproducible.
We choose well-supported tools on purpose. Your next engineer should be able to pick up the codebase without a week of archaeology.
A project our founder has led
Our founder led a pet care booking platform that is live on both the Play Store and the App Store. Pet parents book grooming, vet visits and sitters, pay in the app, sign in with social login and get reminders before appointments. Our founder also led a dealer and field-sales app for a leading cement manufacturer, where dealers place orders, track deliveries and check schemes from the field with offline-first sync and push notifications, and a campaign tracking app for a marketing team. [TODO: confirm features and numbers for the three mobile case studies before publishing.]
What you get
- An NDA signed before you share any details; everyone on the project signs one too.
- Full ownership of all code, designs and IP, transferred as we go, in your repositories and your developer accounts.
- Weekly demos on real devices, so you see working software rather than status reports.
- A written scope within 48 hours of the first call.
- A reply within 24 hours, every time.
- A team that starts in 1 to 2 weeks.
Every engagement is a custom quote, whether a fixed-scope project or a dedicated team; see ways to work with us. If you have an app to build or an app to rescue, start a project brief and we will reply within 24 hours.

Do you build native apps or only React Native?
We build with React Native and TypeScript so one codebase ships to both stores. When a feature needs platform code, such as a hardware integration or a custom background task, we write a native module for it rather than switching the whole app to Swift and Kotlin.
Can you take over an existing React Native app?
Yes. We start with a review of the codebase, the release pipeline and the crash reports, send you written findings ranked by risk, and then agree a plan to stabilise before adding features.
Do you handle App Store and Play Store submission?
Yes. We set up the developer accounts in your name, prepare the listings, privacy labels and data safety forms, manage signing and review, and run the first releases with you.
How do you handle apps that must work offline?
We decide up front which data lives on the device, keep a local database with a queue for writes, and define how conflicts resolve when the connection returns. Offline behaviour is designed, tested and demoed, not left to chance.
What happens after launch?
Every fixed-scope project includes 30 days of post-launch support. After that, a dedicated team or an advisory retainer keeps the app moving, with full handover documentation either way.
